Web 2.0

In the world of the internet, things have started to change. With the advancement of the web and it's tools it is becoming increasingly easy to navigate through the web. With the coming of web 2.0 tools every internet user can be the creator.

Unlike websites, Web 2.0 tools enable users to view and edit in a virtual community. Examples of web 2.0 tools are sites like facebook, blogger, Google.com, Delicious, animoto, and thousands more.

The way that web 2.0 gives users the power to create is the key to its success. The internet is a world full of apps and blogs, what Web 2.0 has taught me is that the web is an awesome place where i can do anything to get my thought out there. My favorite web site is Google because they have so many tools to offer under one name: Google docs, Google sites, Google shopper, Google books...pretty much anything you can think of Google has their neck in it.

online communications and social media

When going through your everyday life, you meet and greet tons of people.  The year is 2011 and the ways we are meeting and greeting have changed dramatically. If you have a facebook account you already know what i mean when i say social networking.  Facebook, and sites alike are social networking sites that enables users to communicate with friends through chatting, pictures, videos, email, and news feed.  You can also meet new people by seeing who all of your current friends know. Social networking is such a huge leap in communication, you can now have connections to other people without even knowing it.

Blogging is another communication breakthrough, although it is usually more personal than a facebook account blog enables users to have an online diary that others can read if allowed. Blogs are perfect for photographers trying to get noticed or writers, they are also a good way of organizing your thoughts.

If I've learned anything from LM 4 its that communication has changed and in my opinion it has changed for the better.  I cant help think what the next big step is, i cant wait to find out.

information fluency

what is: IF
IF is the ability to gather, evaluate, and use information in ethical and legal ways. It's a combination of Information Literacy and Digital Citizenship.
When i read about information fluency i learned that there are many ways people misuse information most of the time without even knowing. If is a program and set of guidlines that show and tell people how to use information properly.

online safety

While reading and learning more and more about the web and various technology i have began to gain a huge interest in seeing how all aspects of digital media and web tech. work together. I have now realized that the web can be an amazing place, but no matter how much you can do with the web there are always bad things that come with it. I now know how much potentially damaging things are out there, like: viruses, cookies, mail-ware, spy-ware, email hackers, phishing scams, credit card scams, and so much more.

Though there may be threats, but there are many ways you can prevent all the negatives  from happening to you.  Anti-virus software- Like Norton anti-virus, which allows you to scan your whole computer and rid of any negative internet files.
